Summary

Fliss Brown has grown up living with her mother on the Rossi family’s Italian fruit farm。 But when her mother dies, Fliss finds out she has a family of her own, and heads back to England with Nonna Rossi’s recipe for cherry and almond tart and a piece of advice: connect with your family before it is too late…

Fliss discovers that her estranged grandfather owns a fruit farm himself, on the outskirts of Wynbridge, and she arrives to find a farm that has fallen into disrepair。 Using her knowledge gleaned from working on the Rossi farm and her desire to find out more about her past, Fliss rolls her sleeves up and gets stuck in。 But what will she discover, and can she resurrect the farm’s glory days and find a taste of home…?

Thank you Netgalley for the advance copy。 Felicity lives and works on the Rossi family fruit farm in Italy with her mother。 When her mother passes away she gives Fliss a letter telling her she has family in Wynbridge England。 She tells Fliss to go and find them as she will be a perfect fit for the family。 When Fliss visits she finds her grandfather also owns a fruit farm that he is struggling to work and throws herself into saving the family business。

I urge you to catch up if you have never done before。It is summer and the smell of the strawberries tastes sweet on the air and Fliss Brown having discovered she has a family in Wynbridge makes the journey from an Italian Fruit Farm where she has spent most of her life。She discovers a grandfather who is not well, a farm starting to become run down, and desire to put down roots somewhere that means something。 With the knowledge of what she has learnt whilst in Italy she soon settles into life in Wynbridge and starts to make friends and gets a feel of how this community works。As some ideas bubble for Fliss to be able to bring the fruit farm back to making a profit, the most obvious one is not going to be without its setbacks as it seems some people are not destined to be Fliss’s friend after all。A lovely warm novel that takes you through the delights of a summer in the strawberry fields and with the possibility that romance is found where you may perhaps least expect it and that even when you harvest it is still possible to put roots down。This novel works well as a standalone and if you have prior knowledge to the books previous then of course you will find some familiar faces and places。 This is the beauty of Heidi’s novels they are full of such community that it you are taken away and try to find where your place would be in it。A book full of sunshine and therefore prescribed for everyone。 。。。more

Wow, Heidi has done it again。 She never lets her readers down I was hooked from the first page until the last。 The first chapter was so emotional, I was in tears。 It started in Italy, a long way from the normal places that Heidi takes us。 Fliss (short for Felicity) had been brought up without a father and her mother used to like travelling and taking young Fliss with her。 They eventually settled down on an Italian farm where her mum helped to bring the Rossi farm to life。 Fliss loved working on Wow, Heidi has done it again。 She never lets her readers down I was hooked from the first page until the last。 The first chapter was so emotional, I was in tears。 It started in Italy, a long way from the normal places that Heidi takes us。 Fliss (short for Felicity) had been brought up without a father and her mother used to like travelling and taking young Fliss with her。 They eventually settled down on an Italian farm where her mum helped to bring the Rossi farm to life。 Fliss loved working on the farm and loved the Rossi family。 You can feel the sunshine and smell the fruit as Fliss Brown reads a letter which had been written to her before her mother died。 Her life is about to change as she finds out she has grandparents in Wynbridge, England, who own a fruit farm。 Her mother said she thought she would be “a perfect fit” to go and work on the farm。 Finally, she makes a decision to go and see her grandparents and see what happens。 Her reunion is not quite what she was expecting。 She is determined to make a go of things as the farm needed much love and tender care if it was going to survive。 Does she find out about her past, are her grandparents what she expected? This is a well written book with mixed emotions throughout。 There is love, laughter and tears。 The characters are utterly believable。 You will certainly get lost in this book oblivious to everything around you。 A well-deserved five stars, as usual。 Thank you, Heidi, for another brilliant read。 。。。more

Heidi Swain takes us back to Wynbridge in her latest stand-alone romantic novel, but it starts in Italy, where Fliss Brown has lived all her life with her mother on an orchard owned by the charming Rossi farm。 After her mum's death, Fliss learns she has family in England, and flies over, to discover her elderly widowed grandfather lives alone on his neglected fruit farm。 Can she help him turn its fortunes around? Maybe with the help of Eliot, her grandfather's charming young carer and friend, and the local community of Wynbridge。 But someone is trying to throw a spanner in the works and it looks like all Fliss's plans, and her hopes of romance, could be sabotaged。 This is a comforting hug of a book, with warm, friendly characters, a pastoral landscape and the quintessentially English offering of market towns, close-knit communities, cosy pubs and tempting farmers' markets to give atmosphere。It's well-paced with just the right touch of suspense, and plenty emotion as Fliss negotiates her grief over her mother's death, her conflicted feelings about the discovery of a new family (is she betraying the Rossis) and her growing attraction for a man whom she needs to keep at arm's length。 。。。more
